Well, it all started when I was 4 years old and got the box of 64 Crayolas – with the built-in sharpener. Within minutes, I had my first work of art in a showing. Okay, so it was on my grandmother’s refrigerator, but nonetheless, I was thrilled. As I got older, I became discouraged with my art as I had great ideas in my head, but just didn’t know how to translate them. I tried pencils and paints and even sculpting, but just couldn’t quite make it happen.

By the age of 14, I had found a great outlet for artistic expression…makeup!

That was in the days of blue eyeliner and purple eye shadow, mind you, but Madonna and I looked great, as did my mom, and my sisters, my neighbors, my classmates, and once the cat! I also had a knack for hairstyling and so they lined up at my door before prom and frat parties.

My college guidance counselor told me that my degree in Organizational Communication would prepare me for a career doing “anything.” Well, what if I didn’t want to do anything but play dress up? No problem – I stumbled into a shop in the mall called HEADSHOTS and not only were people playing dress up, but they were getting photographed, too!

Ah, home, sweet home.

Flash forward to 20 years later. I have gone from makeup artist to photographer, to studio manager, to corporate trainer, to VP of Marketing and Operations, to partner, to franchisor (20 locations) to sole owner to former owner (sold 1999 and had a 6 year run as a graphic designer) and now, by popular demand, I am back behind the camera.

Welcoming Committee
Sometimes Rufus (my tiny, 10lb, “lap terrier”) is with me at the studio. He spends most of his time at home, but every now and then he likes to come to act as studio greeter. Don’t worry, he is all bark, no bite.
